Life As An English Teacher

As you probably already know by now, I have been teaching English for some time now. Starting in Catania, Sicily, then back to Galway, and now here in Bologna. I’ve been working here since October, it’s been 4 months already, which I genuinely can't believe. Time is absolutely flying! Now that I’m settled and in my element, I wanted to share my experience, how I got a job within literally a day of looking, and some advice on things I wish I had known before.

Guess Who's Back? Hello 2020!

It's hard to believe it's 2020, I remember exactly 20 years ago being home watching my father and brother go out to ring in the new millennium and I had to stay home, obviously green with envy, I mean why couldn't 5 year old me go out and have fun? 20 years later I am in Bologna and had the best New Year's Eve ever. Something completely different to what I've ever done. We went to Villaggio della Salute Piรน just outside Bologna, I can't wait to go back in the summer! Definitely something to check out if you want something fun to do here.

Here's some photos of the evening:

Gourmet Food Parlour: Review

A perfect evening surrounded by good food and good company. I was kindly invited into Gourmet Food Parlour in Salthill to try out their dinner menu.
I'm a sucker for restaurants with gorgeous interiors so when I walked in I knew I was in heaven, but I still had to taste the food. At first look at the menu I was pleased to see that there were options for vegans, coeliacs and vegetarians, I like a restaurant that can cater to all needs and diets.

2019 Goals

For the past few years I've written down the goals I wish to achieve for the upcoming year ahead. Realistically I wouldn't get them all done but to achieve at least one thing on the list means something to me.

My New Outlook On Life

Welcome back dolls! How fast is this year going?! I can't get over that we are already in October, I remember when It was the longest January ever then in the click of a finger it's October.
Today I'm going to talk about something I have started really investing my time in, that I believe has helped me through difficult times. But before I get into that I need to address the elephant in the room. My hair! A few weeks ago I was invited up to Dublin for a sponsored campaign with an amazing brand. You can check it out on my Instagram. It's not permanent so it's getting lighter with every wash. It was the most amazing experience though and I hope to work with them again!

What's Really Been Going On

I've been keeping a lot of you in the dark with regards why I'm back in Ireland. I'm home now over two months, can you believe that? A few months ago I had plans on moving to a town on the Amalfi Coast. So today I'm writing this post to explain to you why I gave up living in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

24 Lessons At 24

Being back writing feels quite alien to me, but somehow it took my 24th birthday to inject me with motivation and determination to get back to something I love with my heart.

It was my 24th birthday two days ago  (I'm getting old! and I also checked for wrinkles this morning!) some people reading are probably telling me to shut up but if you think of it, I'm almost half way to 50! Okay all jokes and dilemmas aside, today I am bringing you a much needed post for people who may need some advice whether you may be young or old.

Life Update - A&E and My Time At Home.

I came home to Ireland over the Easter break. I had originally planned on going on a trip somewhere like to Amsterdam or some city in Germany, but as something came up I just said I would go home. I thought to myself, I hadn't been home for three months so now is the perfect time! Otherwise the next time I would be home would be mid July probably!

The Best Gift Idea For Anyone

It's not normal for me to dedicate a whole post to a particular brand, however I knew I had to when I got these products in the post and saw the incredible quality of them.

Before we start, I want to state that this is not an ad, Tunetoo kindly gifted me these three products, and I was allowed to personalise them however I wanted. I did not know how good the quality was before receiving them, and after checking them out I knew this needed a post to itself.

6 Tips On Beating "Bad Days".

Everyone has bad days, they're part of being human. I for one get plenty of bad days, you wake up in the morning from the sound of your dreaded alarm clock and you drag yourself out of bed. You feel like there's a black cloud hovering over you, and the last thing you want to do is speak to someone. Or maybe you're late to work/school/college, you miss your bus, you fight with your siblings/parents/partner, you spill your coffee on your new shirt, etc. It is the start to a typical "bad" day.

10 Lessons I've Learned In Catania, Sicily

Later this month will mark my 6 months here in Catania, Sicily. Time has flown! So I'm sharing the lessons I have learned here. Italy is massive, the north is completely different from the south, as well as culture so here are the lessons I've learned here in Catania!
Note: These are things a native Irish person has noticed, it may not be the same for other cultures.

5 Steps To Achieving Your Goals

Without setting yourself goals, how can you grow? I always have to be thinking ahead, trying to figure out what my next move is and how I'll achieve it. I'm quite organised in this sense, if I don't have everything written down I feel like I've no control of my life, so everything is written, events, appointments, my goals and how I'll achieve them. So without rambling on, here are my five steps to achieving your goals!

Why I Love Blogging

Since beginning CiaraSwalsh almost 3 years ago, I've grown so much. I've done things I've never even dreamed of doing and I've met people who bring out the best in me. In the last year or so  I've found it hard to tell people I'm a "blogger" because the word has been tainted by lies and inauthentic content. However, never have I ever associated CiaraSwalsh with the bad side of blogging. Why? Because I know that I am true to my followers and to myself.

The Difference Between Working Abroad and Studying Abroad

Christmas is almost over, we just have to devour another round of Christmas dinner today (St. Stephan's Day) and then we can start the countdown again! Next up is NYE, I love this time of year, cosy-ing up beside the fire with tea in hand, in your warm fluffy pyjamas; whilst also celebrating and eating your body weight in food everyday! It's nice to have these few days off. If you don't follow my social media, then you won't know that I am in fact home in Ireland for the holidays. I've two whole weeks in the Emerald Isle away from all the mosquitoes in Catania! Today I am here with an interesting and eye opening topic, which will definitely interest you if you plan to live abroad.
