24 Lessons At 24


Being back writing feels quite alien to me, but somehow it took my 24th birthday to inject me with motivation and determination to get back to something I love with my heart.

It was my 24th birthday two days ago  (I'm getting old! and I also checked for wrinkles this morning!) some people reading are probably telling me to shut up but if you think of it, I'm almost half way to 50! Okay all jokes and dilemmas aside, today I am bringing you a much needed post for people who may need some advice whether you may be young or old.


24 Life Lessons 

  1. It's okay to lose motivation/ determination for something you love, take time off, and it will come back I promise.
  2. Don't be afraid to cut ties with toxic people, even if they're mutual friends with someone you like, if they are making you feel terrible about yourself you need to realise they are not for you. Don't ever torture yourself by staying in a toxic 'friendship'. 
  3. Show appreciation to those who help you and love you for who you are.
  4. Just because someone may look happy in their Instagram posts, doesn't mean they're not going through something that hurts them so much.
  5. Social media isn't everything, remember to look up from your phone once in a while to appreciate the importance of now. You won't get it back.
  6. Listen to more music.
  7. Be good to your family, you never know when it will be the last day with them.
  8. When choosing a degree, look at all the jobs attached to it, make sure you know you could do it because once the degree is over you have to go for one of them. I know it's difficult to know what you like and it may take a few experiences in college to know what suits you. But don't waste a degree just to get the college experience.
  9. Never allow an Instagram profile make you feel self conscious about your weight  or looks. Everyone is different and many profiles like to use Photoshop. Some are just unrealistic so try to see that, it doesn't reflect on how gorgeous you are.
  10. Don't be afraid to take risks if you believe the outcome could benefit you.
  11. If you really want something, you have to work for it, nothing is ever handed on a plate. If you give up you'll never have it.
  12. Exercise more, not to lose weight, but for the benefits it has on your mind and overall well being.
  13. If you need to take a mental health day, take it. Always look out for yourself.
  14. It's okay not to be okay. Mind yourself and talk to people.
  15. Be there for others as you too will need them sometime.
  16. Say "I love you" more.
  17. Never settle for anything.
  18. Think positive.
  19. Just because others' aren't doing it, doesn't mean you can't.
  20. Be more understanding
  21. Make mistakes, you will learn and grow so much from them.
  22. If you don't want negativity on your social media just press the unfollow button. 
  23. Your end goal is never easy to reach, so keep pushing.
  24. Never put someone you love down in order to seem 'cool' for your 'friends'.
