Our Style Is Our Personality

“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little—if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” - Coco Chanel

The seasons have certainly changed, which means I can start to whip out all my cosies! I was back in Ireland for a week recently for some family reasons and I just had to pop into Penneys for some retail therapy, and I ended up coming out with so much more than I had bargained for!

Berets are in and here to stay, so I had to pick up a pink one as I'm loving that colour lately, as well as this white balloon sleeve jumper and tartan skirt. I've then matched this with my patent Bershka boots and my favourite black bag (which no longer exists) 😢 It's definitely my go to outfit this winter if I want to be a little extra 'cute'. I love winter, dressing all cosy is one of my favourite things to do, and I find my style is a lot better during Autumn/ Winter.

Winter in Catania is a lot different to winter in Ireland, the evenings are short but the sun still rises very early. At 7am the sun is up, so we aren't submerged in darkness here. It's not as cold, Sicily is about 10 degrees warmer than the north or Italy, which just gives a perspective on how big the country is.

As I was returning to Catania I had to stop in Rome so I decided to make a weekend out of it. The very day this look was shot we were also taking some couple pictures at the Colosseum where my bag with everything inside, my phone, wallet, Davide's wallet and the keys to his car was robbed. Yes my favourite leather bag from Italy that I wear in nearly every picture! That was definitely a huge blow to the stomach after my trip back in Ireland, but after a day or two I knew it could all be replaced, well except for my Snapchat, so if you want to add my new account feel free to! @ciaraswalsh1 😊

I had gone through the whole story on my *new* snapchat after it had happened.

When I told some people about the robbery, the first thing they said was "oh of course that happened, look what you were wearing!" Which made me think about other situations where girls are targeted based on their clothes. For me my style is so important, dressing down so I won't be targeted is not on my agenda and should never be. But unfortunately there is a mindset there and unfortunately people get targeted for it. Fortunately, I was targeted and not harmed, others are sometimes not so lucky.

BERET, JUMPER, SKIRT: PENNEYS | BOOTS: BERSHKA | JEWELLARY: CLUSE & PANDORA

So, be careful with your belongings in touristic areas, when it happens it's a horrible feeling, and even though I was told this happened because of how I was dressed, it won't stop me from dressing how I like, my style is my personality and if you can't dress how you like then what's the point? This outfit still brings me happiness, it's just so cosy and the definition of cute.

Anyways, who want's to come to the Colosseum with me and find that guy who stole my stuff and show him a thing or two? 😉
